The Closet Purge

Cleaning out your closet takes an objective eye and a willingness to let go!  Use our point system to help you make the hard decisions:

1.
Go through each of the garments in your closets and drawers.

2.  Try on EVERYTHING.

3.  Evaluate each of the items and assign it points accordingly:

Flattering to your body type         2 pts

Fits well                                              2 pts

Can be altered to fit well                1 pt

Color is flattering to skin tones    2 pts

Item is in good condition               2 pts

Item is still fashionable                   2 pts

Item can be easily updated           1 pt

 4.  Tally the points for each item and separate the clothing into 3 piles – ‘YES’, ‘NO’ and ‘MAYBE’.  Here’s how you determine which pile to put the item into:

        8-10 points             ‘YES’
        5-7 points               ‘MAYBE’
        0-4 points               ‘NO’

5.  Find the goodwill organization of your choice to donate the ‘NO’ pile to.

6.  Take inventory of the ‘MAYBE’ and ‘YES’ piles by listing the items in each.

7.  Based on what's left in your closet and your wardrobe goals, re-evaluate your 'MAYBE' list.

8.  Once you have made your final selections for your 'YES' list, create a final inventory list,
briefly describing each of the items.  Take note of what you have to match each article of clothing so that you can easily identify the gaps in your wardrobe.

9.  Decide on your budget and create your shopping list!
